Refunds and cancellation
Clarity-OO Ltd — Clarity CDM Academy: refunds and cancellation — version 2026-11-02.1
This page is part of our course terms. A course is a one-off purchase for one named learner: there is no subscription and nothing renews, so there is nothing to cancel later. What you can get back depends on whether you bought as a consumer or as a business.
1. Which are you?
- A consumer is an individual buying for yourself, for purposes wholly or mainly outside your trade, business, craft or profession. An employee buying personally for their own job is a consumer.
- A business is a company, partnership, sole trader or other organisation, or an individual buying for your trade, business, craft or profession. You tell us at checkout by ticking the box "I am buying as a business (a company, partnership, sole trader or other organisation, or for my own trade or profession). Employees buying for their own job should not tick this." and giving a business name. A company name or VAT number alone never makes you a business. If you tick the box wrongly, the law still treats you as a consumer and section 2 applies to you.
2. If you bought as a consumer: 14 days to change your mind
- You can cancel for any reason within 14 days of the day after your payment is confirmed. (Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, regulations 29 and 30.)
- Until you start the course, your right to cancel is untouched. Buying, setting your password, signing in and looking at your dashboard do not start it.
- Starting the course ends your right to cancel. The course starts when you open its first lesson or start its exam. Inside the 14 days, before the first lesson, we show you one screen with these exact words and one button: "I ask Clarity-OO Ltd to begin supplying this course, and its marking and certificate service, to me now, before my 14-day cancellation period has ended. I understand that once supply begins I lose my right to cancel this order and to a refund." The button reads "Start the course now". If you press it, your right to cancel ends there and then, and we email you a copy of the request and acknowledgement straight away. If you are not sure, do not press it. (Regulations 37 and 16(3).)
- After the 14 days, the right to cancel has ended anyway and the course opens without that screen.
- There are no part refunds for a course you have started. Your access and free retakes stay yours. (If the law treats part of a course as a service and you cancel after pressing the button but within the 14 days, we may keep a proportionate amount for what was supplied and refund the rest - course terms, section 16.)
3. How to cancel
Tell us clearly before the 14 days end. The easiest way is an email to support@clarity-oo.com giving your order reference (it begins CDMA-). You can also write to us at 2b Henry Street, Blackburn, BB1 4JJ, or use the model cancellation form at the end of the course terms; you do not have to use the form. If you email from a different address to the one on your order, we may ask you to confirm it is you before refunding. Your access ends when we receive your cancellation.
4. If you bought as a business: no cancellation or refund
A business purchase cannot be cancelled and is not refunded once payment is confirmed, whether or not the learner has started. The consumer right to cancel does not apply to businesses. The only exceptions are sections 5 and 6 below.
5. If we fall short
This page does not limit your rights if we break our agreement.
- Consumers. The course must be of satisfactory quality, fit for its purpose and as described, and our marking and certificate service must be carried out with reasonable care and skill. (Consumer Rights Act 2015, sections 34 to 36 and 49.) If not, you are entitled to a repair or replacement (a corrected module, a reset exam attempt), or a price reduction up to the full price. (Sections 42 to 44 and 54 to 56.)
- Businesses. If a course or our marking is not as described or not done with reasonable care and skill, and we do not put it right within a reasonable time of you telling us, we will correct it or refund the price of that course, in full or in part according to how much was affected. (Course terms, section 22.)
- If we withdraw a course before the learner has started it, we refund in full.
6. Our mistakes
If we charge you wrongly, for example twice, or we refuse your order after payment, we refund it in full.
7. How you are paid
- Refunds go back to the card you paid with. We cannot refund to a different card or account.
- We make every refund within 14 days of receiving a valid cancellation or agreeing a refund. Your bank's own processing time may add a few days.
- Refunds are made by us in Stripe. There is no refund button in your account; email us.
- When a full refund is made, access to that course ends. A certificate already issued for an order that is charged back or refunded in full at your request may be revoked (course terms, section 9); a partial refund or price reduction never affects your certificate.
8. Certificates, expiry and retakes are not refunds
- A certificate is valid for 3 years and your access lasts as long. Retakes are free during that time. When it ends, taking the course again means buying it again; the first purchase is not refunded or credited.
- Not passing the exam is not a reason for a refund: retake it, free, as often as you like while you have access.
